A MESSAGE FROM AMY

My passion and love for interiors began during my college years when I lived in my very first apartment. One of my favorite past times was walking around different neighborhoods that included both stately and modest homes. At night, the warm glow of the lights coming from inside these homes allowed me to catch a glimpse of what lay beyond those windows and doors. I was mesmerized by the interiors and I came to recognize the value and the beauty of living in a well-dressed home.

I have always felt homes should be viewed as more than just dwellings. Our homes become a stage where we tell our stories, they reflect where we’ve been, who we love and have lost, and the inspiring influences that define us. I firmly believe it is not enough to just furnish a home; it should also contain objects that have meaning. Each object marks a moment in time, like my childhood bed where I spent most evenings listening to my favorite songs as a teenager, or a pair of Chinese chairs that belonged to my late parents; I can’t see it without thinking of them. Each object tells a story and serves as reminders of the moments we experienced-- each story connecting us to each other, reminding us we are not so different from one another. We all want a place we can call home where we can unwind and recharge from the busy and stressful moments of the day, where we celebrate some of life’s most important moments, create invaluable work to help others and where lasting memories are made.

While I recognize my line of work may sometimes be viewed as nonessential or frivolous, I do think there is value in surrounding ourselves with beauty and things that matter. We should all strive to live beautifully in our homes so that our stories can shine even brighter.
